Position: Park Maintenance Worker

DUTIES INCLUDE: The primary function of an employee in this class is to perform construction, maintenance, repair, inspection, and service work on City parks and cemetery buildings and grounds, including equipment, machinery, irrigation systems, and playground structures. Additional duties include soil and plant cultivation, pesticide and fertilization applications, cleanup duties and public restroom cleaning and maintenance. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Parks Maintenance Supervisor or Senior Parks Maintenance Worker. The principal duties of this class are performed outdoors and may include working in adverse weather conditions and hazards involving the use of power tools, equipment and hazardous chemicals.

Position: Community Service Administrator

DUTIES INCLUDE: The principal function of an employee in this class is to work with citizens on quality of life issues related to police services such as crime prevention programs and enforcement of codes and ordinances. The work involves field investigations of potential violations of community development ordinances. The employee must determine if conditions are violations of city ordinances, attempt to obtain voluntary compliance with ordinance, write reports describing the incident, determine what section of the ordinance has been violated, and testify in court when needed. The Community Services Administrator regularly demonstrates the use of tact and diplomacy in seeking voluntary compliance to community development ordinances. Work is performed under the supervision of the Investigations Sergeant and Captain who evaluates performance for thoroughness and accuracy of investigations, ability to seek voluntary compliance, courteous treatment of the public and complete and accurate preparation of reports. The principal duties of this class are performed in a general office environment and in the field.

Position: Emergency Communications Officer (E.C.O)

DUTIES INCLUDE: The principal function of an employee in this class is to answer emergency and nonemergency calls, including calls for other City services using a multi-line telephone and 911 systems. Employees in this class are responsible for fast, efficient and accurate receiving, dispatching and processing of calls and messages from and to police vehicles and personnel on an assigned shift. The work is performed under the supervision of a Emergency Communications Shift Supervisor, with some latitude granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. The principal duties of this class are performed in a general office environment, frequently under stressful conditions.

Position: Camp Counselor

DUTIES INCLUDE: The primary function of a camp counselor is to plan and supervise day camp activities, interact with campers and their parents, and provide an outdoor enrichment program. The position is under the direct supervision of the Camp Director, although some latitude is allowed for independent judgment and initiative. The principal duties of the position are performed outdoors and are subject to inclement weather conditions.
Must be at least 17 years old. Previous experience with children, including camp, youth leadership, or babysitting, is preferred but not required. Works under the supervision of the Camp Director and other assigned staff. Must enjoy working with children and have the ability to communicate, organize & supervise activities for 5 -14 year olds effectively. Must also have the ability to attain First Aid and CPR certification within the first month after the start of camp. Must be able to hike a minimum of 1 mile and bike a minimum of 2 miles and be an active participant in games that may require running, jumping and climbing.
Pay Range: $8 - $9/Hr/DOE

Position: Engineering Technician

The principal function of an employee in this class is to perform technical engineering duties including construction site inspections, plan and permit reviews, updating city maps and records, producing engineering drawings and specifications, assisting in traffic studies, and reviewing and preparing cost estimates. This is a general civil engineering technician position requiring strong inspection, computer, drafting, and plan review skills. Work involves the use of engineering techniques to interpret designs and applicable regulations. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the City Engineer, or assigned supervisor, with some latitude granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. The principal duties of this class are performed in an office and field environment.
