Opportunity Zones – opens in a new windowNew incentive for investing in designated low-income cities, counties, and tribes in Idaho. Opportunity Zones are a new community development program established by Congress in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to encourage long-term investments in low-income urban and rural communities. Private investment vehicles that place 90 percent or more of their funds into an Opportunity Zone can earn tax relief on the capital gains generated through those investments. NEWS: Governor Signs Unemployment Tax Relief Bill opens in a new window – Idaho employers to save $115 million over three years. House Bill 335 – passed unanimously by both the House and Senate – will ensure the continuing solvency of Idaho’s unemployment reserve fund used to pay benefits. It lowers rates for taxpaying businesses retroactive to January 1, 2018.
