Kerri Thoreson was first elected to council Seat 1 in 2008. She is currently serving her fourth term on the Council.
She’s an award-winning writer/photographer, public speaker and the former publisher/editor of the Post Falls Tribune. A Kootenai County resident for nearly five decades, Kerri is an alumni of Coeur d’Alene High School who’s made her home in Post Falls since 1985.
She attended the University of North Dakota- Williston and graduated from the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce River City Leadership Academy in 2010.
Community involvement is a priority, and Kerri speaks to many organizations on a variety of topics such as saying yes to opportunities and engaging in the community. She organized the Post Falls Festival Parade for 25 years and founded the Post Falls Junior Miss/Post Falls Distinguished Young Woman scholarship program. Veterans causes are a passion, including serving as the Curator of the Ronald D. Rankin Veterans Memorial Plaza at the Kootenai County Courthouse, which is named for her late father.. Kerri and husband, Bert, have three grown daughters, Alyssa, Melani and Sarah and three grandsons, one of whom is serving in the US Navy.

Post Falls City Council meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6pm in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 408 N. Spokane St. on the 3rd Tuesday of each month there is a 5pm Council Workshop.
